Well, it's been a long time since we blogged...sorry about that. We've been pretty busy and trying to ignore that we are another year older. This was a hike I went on a couple days ago, it gives you some cool views of Moab and it's fun to watch the sun set through the portal on the Colorado River. I circled our house in the picture below....

Happy New Year
Scott and I spent the last few days celebrating our anniversary and bringing in 2007 snowboarding with Brady over in CO. I have to say we started the year out with a bang...we hiked up to the Highlands Bowl on Aspen MT and snowboarded down...I brought my camera along to show the proof. The first picture is Brady & Scott on top, the second picture is Scott & Katy with the Maroon Bells in the background and a sign with a skull and bones warning us "back country risks include death" to our right, the third picture is a shot of the bowl after we boarded down, and the picture off to the right is the ridge we hiked. (If you enlarge the pic you can see a brown roof, in the last group of trees, at the other end of the ridge, that's where we started our hike. It took a good 30 minutes and was a good workout.) Two Years!!
We had a great anniversary. Thanks for all the phone calls and thoughts everyone sent our way. We had a very restful morning, lots of knitting and reading. We then went for a hike with the pups and ended up eating lunch way up high in a cave. Monday we are off to Aspen for a day or two of snow surfing to really celebrate!!

Well the holidays are upon us, here is what I've been up to lately. For the Solstice, I enjoyed a bike ride around town with about 50 other folks, making stops along the way to fill up our cups with beverages to keep us warm...don't worry everyone made it home safely!
On Christmas Eve, I went south to Monticello, Utah and spent a few days with the DeGraw family. We went to a live nativity held by the town...and then went home and had our own!! We sang some Christmas carols and then you wouldn't believe what happened...Santa Claus was on the roof! So we headed off to bed...but not for too long. We were up at 5:45 opening our stocking gifts! After about four hours of gift opening, I implemented the Robertson family tradition, the boys cook breakfast. (Lucky for us, the twins, David and Isaiah, are chefs at two of the nicest restaurants in town!) After breakfast, we played with our presents and then I headed back to Moab for the Community Christmas Dinner held by our friend Holly and Wabi Sabi. Lots of people came out, over 200, and it turned out to be a really fun event. I was thinking about all of you, wishing we could be together, I love you and Merry Christmas!

Well, it's winter in the desert. The river is freezing and the light is low...enjoy a few pictures I snapped as Scott and I drove on the river road on our way back from cutting apricot wood out in Castle Valley.

Well Scott and I had a fun day at the mill on Tuesday. The wood in the pictures are poplar...the big ol' chunk will hopefully end up to be three buthcher blocks and until we get a log skidder, the poor truck will have to drag the logs around for us!

My Commute...
I brought my camera to work yesterday, so I could share my beautiful commute with everyone. The pictures do not do it justice, but you get the idea. These first two pictures are taken as I am dropping down into Paradox Valley, Colorado. (If you enlarge the first photo, the school is right in the middle.)

The third photo is of a Golden Eagle. She was just chillin' on the fence post as I drove past and I actually had time to turn the car around to get this picture. She was only about 10 feet from me, and after I took a couple of pictures, I think she might have spotted Spuds in the back seat and gracefully took flight...those are the LaSal Mountains in the background.

These last two pictures were taken as I was driving back into the Moab Valley. The sun was setting, creating the most beautiful highlights on the red rocks and crazy colors in the sky! Enjoy!

Sawmills are fun!
Here are some pics of Scott cutting a log on our new sawmill. (Not too bad a view either.) As you can see it is mounted on a trailer and is run by a gas-powered engine, so we can easily cut trees on site.
